Who are we?

macronomics was founded by Graeme Leach in 2016. Graeme is a former chief economist, director of policy and main board director at the Institute of Directors (IoD), from 1997 to 2014.

Graeme is a visiting professor of economic policy, a member of the IEA Shadow Monetary Policy Committee and has a weekly column in the City AM newspaper. Over the past decade he has undertaken over 100 live television and radio interviews for BBC News, Sky News, the Radio 4 Today Programme and Radio 4 World at One. Over the past 15 years he has made hundreds of speeches to business audiences in 25 countries across the globe.

Prior to forming macronomics, Graeme was director of economics and prosperity studies at the Legatum Institute, focused on the drivers of prosperity across the globe.

His passion for forward thinking began with his first job at the Henley Centre, advising companies on future change. It’s a passion which has only grown with the passage of time, advising company directors on what the future might bring, how they could apply this knowledge and build a forward thinking organisation.

macronomics is built around a network of economists and futurists tailored to client needs.

On technology issues this includes associates such as David Smith, CEO of Global Futures & Foresight (GFF), and one of the world’s leading futurists.

On board related external strategy associates include Roger Barker, a former director of corporate governance at the Institute of Directors (IoD).
